A new, popular supplement 1,3 dimethylamylamine has come under scrutiny lately. Is 1,3 dimethylamylamine safe? What are the 1,3 dimethylamylamine side effects?

Numerous companies  have added this excitatory compound in their pre workout powders. What exactly is it? It’s a party drug!

Is 1,3 dimethylamylamine safe? What are 1,3 dimethylamylamine side effects?

In New Zealand, Methylhexanamine (under the name 1,3 dimethylamylamine or DMAA) is an emerging active ingredient of party pills, where it has replaced benzylpiperazine or BZP which has been illegal in that country since 2008. Serious adverse effects including headache, nausea, and stroke have been reported in recreational users of these products. In November 2009 the New Zealand government indicated that DMAA would be scheduled as a restricted substance.

You may also know it as another name, Geranamine, since companies are attempting to hide it in their formula. Users report feeling “buzzed” and they are noticing more intensity in their workouts.Cocaine would also allow you to lift more weight but we know that’s not safe. Nicotine helps you lose weight but I’ll never advocate that.

Another not so shocking issue with how supplement companies include 1,3 dimethylamylamine in their products is that they won’t list the actual amount. It’ll be hidden behind the words “proprietary blend”  so you really will never known how much you’re actually taking since the company doesn’t have to disclose their amount.

Well now I’m hearing that various big online supplement retailers will no longer carry any products containing 1,3 dimethylamylamine until their is more science to support the “natural” claim.

We’re also starting to see ephedra like red flags with 1,3 dimethylamylamine and geranium because companies are being shady and using the oil version of each product. 1,3 dimethylamylamine is different from the dimethylamylamine compounds which is extracted from the geranimum plant. The funny thing? DMMA, another name for 1,3 dimethylamylamine is not even present in the geranium plant. Shady indeed.

Instead these synthetic versions are being labeled as the plant to lie to consumers. Many companies are telling athletes that this nasty compounds can increase drive, energy, focus and energy. Tennis pro Robert Kendrick was actually suspended for 12 months about testing positive for geranium.

I don’t care how much you want to believe that you need this product to enhance your workouts, you don’t. The World Doping Agency added it to their banned substance listed in 2010.

Have you ever tried D-Ribose? The research behind the strength of D Ribose is very compelling.

The primary source of energy for all cellular processes is a molecule known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Healthy, active cells constantly replenish their supply of ATP to produce vital cellular energy. However, under conditions of stress, injury, or aging, critical body tissues such as heart and skeletal muscles cannot produce ATP quickly enough to perform optimally.

D-ribose, a carbohydrate molecule found in every living organism, facilitates the production of ATP.

In studies of healthy athletes as well as those who have suffered injury to the heart muscle, supplying fatigued muscle cells with D-ribose quickly restored ATP levels to normal.By helping to rapidly refill depleted energy stores, D-ribose may be especially beneficial for people coping with cardiac and other problems marked by impaired cellular energy production.

Update:Decomber 20th.

A potent maker of a pre workout product containing 1,3 dim has been hit with a class action suit over its safety and it has even be deemed illegal in Canada. It was even brought up that “no reliable clinical research or university testing” can support the clams made by the manufacturers about its safety and effectiveness. I hate to say I told you so but…
