While overall diet modifications are best for improving heart health and reducing hypertension, it is my personal belief that people should focus on the types of foods that they eat as opposed to focusing on fixing their entire diet. These foods are some of the best heart healthy foods.
In no particular order….
1.Oatmeal
Packed with cholesterol lowering fiber, oatmeal also contains avenanthramides, which has been shown to reduce inflammation and free radicals. Even the top diabetic doctors give their severe patients one cup of oatmeal a day. In a nutshell, it’s a perfect carbohydrate source.
2.Almonds
One of my personal favorite sources of fat,2009 research has speculated that they can even help fight fatigue. Most people lack various minerals such as zinc and magnesium, which almonds are extremely high in. Plus they are high in monounsaturated fats as well.
3. Yogurt
It can be greek or old school, doesn’t matter. What matters is that yogurt has been shown to reduce abdominal fat. Other heart healthy food benefits from yogurt come from the high vitamin D amount in addition to probiotics that are found in high amounts.
4. Blueberries
Simply put, they rock. High in fiber plus various anti-inflammatory properties, blueberries are the perfect addition to the heart healthy breakfast. Throw them in with yogurt and you have a fantastic meal!
5.Grapefruit
One of the lowest calorie fruits, grapefruit is a very potent tool for fighting stomach fat. It also has been proven to enhance testosterone as well. Best of all, it’s only 40 calories and it works fantastic as a sugar substitute at night. When you get those cravings, just eat a few slices of grapefruit and you’ll be good to go. No more cravings.
6.Tamari Pumpkin Seeds
Most people don’t understand how heart healthy tamari pumpkin seeds are. Most fatty nuts have a 2:1 fat to protein ratio. If it contains 8 grams of fat then it also contains 4 grams of protein. Not with tamari pumpkin seeds, a serving size contains 18 grams of protein and 6 grams of fat. A very bodybuilding friendly food indeed.
7.Pineapple
Ever have back pain or knee pain? Well we all have but have you ever eaten pineapple when you had those pains? You should, since pineapple contains bromelain, a very potent anti-inflammatory supplement.. Remember, when we reduce inflammation, we increase our heart health.
So it’s not impossible to eat a heart healthy diet, all of these foods are easy to prepare and they all taste good. Add them into your heart healthy diet today!

I was given to understand that blueberries should not be eaten with dairy because the dairy interferes with the benefits that the blueberries impart to our bodies. I also eat them far apart from any dairy. I love “em. They are also a nice snack before bed.
Very useful
I must say I love eating everything on this list, especially yogurt. But can you tell me why they say to cut dairy during my on-season diet?
