How To Eat Healthy At Taco Bell

If you remember those commercials of the late 90’s then you know what I’m talking about. It was Taco Bell’s biggest marketing effort to date to get the general public into their fast food Mexican restaurants. Owned by Pepsi, they were trying to be the McDonald’s of Mexican food. While Taco Bell is certainly doing well and has ever expanded their menu, I don’t know if they ever got up to the McDonald’s level.

Bodybuilders love McDonald’s, especially when they want to add muscle size. The calories from McDonald’s are calories none the less and calories make you grow.  Unfortunately, it’s not exactly the healthiest option. Same thing with Taco Bell.

In reality though, we aren’t all dieting for a bodybuilding show or photo shoot or trying hardcore to lose fat so foods like Taco Bell may actually appeal to us, so we might as well try to eat as healthy as possible there.

Taco Bell’s Fresco Menu

That’s the first place you should look since it’s Taco Bell’s healthy menu. All the items on the menu have less then 8 grams of fat and less than 500 calories. If you’re looking for the most protein then check out the Fresco Fiesta Burrito Supreme With Chicken. It has 340 calories,49 grams of carbs,  8 grams of fat and 18 grams of protein. Another good option is the Fresco Grilled Steak Soft Taco with its 160 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbs and 9 grams of protein.

No Salad For You

Thinking salad is a good choice right? Wrong!. All the salads on Taco Bells menu are very high in calories.

I Love Tacos and Burritos

If you’re into tacos and burritos then you want to look into either of these options as they are the healthiest choices on the taco bell menu. The Soft Taco Supreme rocks out with 240 calories, 11 grams of fat, 24 grams of carbs and 11 grams of protein. On the burrito end, the Fiesta Chicken Burrito is the one, coming in with 360 calories, 10 grams of fat, 49 grams of carbs and 17 grams of protein.

So now I’m not saying that you should run to Taco Bell if you want to commit to your low carb diet but for a cheat meal, they can be rather rewarding. Just make sure you stay with the healthy options suggested here or else you might end up in the bathroom the entire day.
