So with good ole ephedra and ephedrine outlawed as the only supplement that the FDA says you can’t buy, you may be left asking what supplements are the best for fat loss?
The first legal alternative to ephedra and ephedrine that I’m going to cover is caffeine, which is also the most potent.
For starters it’s cheap, you can grab a large amount of caffeine pills for just a few bucks. Now I’ve never personally taken just straight caffeine before, I prefer to get in in my coffee but I know some that just take it pre workout.
Most of the pre workout supplements on the market today load their “pump” products up with caffeine since one of its main benefits is vasodilation (slightly expanding your blood vessels to allow more nutrients to enter it during your training which gives you the feeling of increased size).
The problem with too much caffeine is that you become used to it. Your receptors that caffeine binds too becomes clogged and you’l need to either increase your consumption or eliminate caffeine from your diet in order to get the same fat loss effects.
So why is it a legal alternative to ephedra and ephedrine? Because it decreases your appetite and increased your metabolism in the same way that ephedra and ephedrine did.
