So you want to do a bodybuilding show? Doesn’t matter if you’re doing model, bodybuilding, figure, bikini or fitness, you need to be lean. You need to learn how to do cardio for a bodybuilding content.
I image that the very first thing that you’re going to look into is which type of cardio is best for fat loss? Is it steady state cardio or interval training?
What helps you to lose fat faster ? Either way, you need to do cardio for a bodybuilding contest. Just realize that there’s no such thing as a fat burning zone.
I don’t understand the argument over which is better, honestly I don’t get it.
Low intensity cardio burns a higher percentage of body fat, doesn’t fatigue your legs as much but you have to do it for a longer amount of time.
Interval training burns more stored carbohydrates for fuel, fatigues your legs a lot but you don’t have to do it for a long period of time.
You need to use both! How you use both depends on your body type, how much bodyfat you have, how long you have to get ready for a show and how many carbohydrates that you’re eating and your carbohydrate tolerance. So all of those factors go into your cardio workouts for a bodybuilding contest.

I also advise you to hire a bodybuilding contest trainer and nutritionist to personalize a cardio program for you. Don’t get caught up in the notion that you need to do hours of cardio. It all depends on your individual metabolism and the various other factors mentioned above. So start slow and tweak as needed. You might be a lucky one that doesn’t need a ton of cardio.
